Metadata

You can add metadata about datasets, tables, and fields within tables to SuperWEB2. Once the metadata is set up, end users can click the links in the SuperWEB2 interface to read the additional information about the data they are working with.

Metadata links can be displayed in SuperWEB2's Table View alongside fields that have been added to the table. The links are denoted by the info icon:

There are two options you can choose between for configuring metadata in SuperWEB2: static HTML pages or a metadata repository stored in an external relational database.

You must choose one method or the other. It is not possible to use a mixture of static HTML and database metadata.

Option 1: Static HTML Pages

With this method, you create static HTML pages for each dataset and field. When a user clicks the info icon, the HTML page is displayed in a new browser tab or window.

Option 2: Using a Database Metadata Repository

With this method, you create a database containing metadata descriptions for each field. When a user clicks the info icon, the details are retrieved from the database.
