Flag Records - SuperCROSS

You can flag records that meet certain criteria. When the records have been flagged they can then be used in tabulations. This can be useful when performing studies over time on groups of speĀcific individuals, such as customers or patients.

The records are automatically flagged individually so they can be listed and loaded into a table as individual records. They are also flagged as a group so they can be used as a universe or subject population when defining other queries.

For example, consider a student records database. You can identify those students who had a 100% attendance record in February and label their group with a name of your choice. You could then look at their attendance record across every other month of the school year. You could do this by each stuĀdent in the 100% group to get an individual view of their attendance student by student, then compare their exam results with the result of the student body.

You can only use this feature for a numeric field. Other data types are not currently supported.

There are two ways you can select the records you want to flag. You can either do it based on the cell selection or by using a text file that contains the record identifiers for all the records you want to flag.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select one or more cells (if you want to flag records based on the cell selection); or
    • Prepare the record identifier file. This file must be a plain text file (.txt) with one record identifier on each line in the file.
  2. Select Cross > Records > Flag Records. The Flag Records dialog displays.
  3. Enter the following details:

    OptionDescription
    Name

Enter a name for the group of flagged records.

    • The name must be unique within this database.
    • The name cannot be the same as the name of any existing field, recode or user defined field.
Record IdentifierThe drop-down list contains all the sum and key fields in the current database that have been configured for flagging records. Select the key that you want to use to flag records.
    Create From

Select whether you want to flag records based on the current cell selection or using a text file that contains record identifiers.

If you are using a text file, click Browse and select your file.

  4. Click OK. SuperCROSS adds your flagged records to the list of fields in the Fields window.
