Configuration Files - SuperCHANNEL

You can change some of the SuperCHANNEL settings by editing the configuration files.

In most cases you will not need to make changes to the default configuration (apart from modifying config.txt to include the JDBC drivers for connecting to your RDBMS).

This section describes the different configuration files and the options you can configure. By default, these files are located in C:\ProgramData\STR\SuperCHANNEL\bin.

FileDescription
config.txt

Contains the majority of the SuperCHANNEL configuration options.

You will need to add the JDBC driver details to this file.

It is also possible to edit these settings using the Preferences tool in the SuperCHANNEL GUI, but Space-Time Research recommends editing the text file directly rather than using the GUI to make these changes.

scgui.log4j.propertiesThis configuration file controls the logging settings for the scgui.log file.
snu.batThis batch file is used to run SuperCHANNEL from the command line. If you intend to run SuperCHANNEL from the command line, you will need add the JDBC driver details to this file, in addition to adding these details to config.txt. See JDBC Drivers - SuperCHANNEL for more information.
sxv4drv.conf

It is unlikely that you will need to change the settings in this file. It contains settings that should only be changed if:

  • Your source data contains wide tables.
  • You have two or more related fact tables in your target schema and you need to be able to search for individual records during cross tabulation.
  • You want to be able to use the delete or update commands.
  • You need to amend the default buffering behaviour for performance reasons.
